Description
This building, known as B&S Catalogue Surplus, is possibly from the 19th century and features a roughcast front that has been altered for No 9. It consists of two stories and a basement at the east end, with a single story at the west end. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, with eaves that broaden towards the west end. There is a higher gabled cross range at the rear of No 9, and brick stacks are present.
On the first floor of the High Street front (No 8), there are two windows, while the Russell Street front has three windows, all of which are 2-light casements with moulded architraves. The shop fronts at the corner include a moulded cornice, fluted pilasters, roundels on the sub-friezes, a plain fascia, and timber mullions. There is a panelled and glazed door located across the corner.
No 9 features a modern shop front. The ground floor of No 8 has a later sash window on the High Street front and a splayed bay window on the Russell Street front, which includes a basement entrance below and a boarded door entrance at the center.
