Description
The building is a former Meeting House located to the left of Gladestry Post Offices, dating from the 18th century and mid-19th century, featuring Gothick detailing. It was originally the Meeting House for a Friendly Society, The Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds, and was used for Baptist services in the 1840s. The structure is made of coursed rubble blocks and has two rubble side stacks, a slate roof, deep-set eaves, and decorated bargeboards with eaves brackets. The openings are adorned with elaborate ogee hood moulds. There are two large central windows; the upper one is modern, while the lower one is original, featuring a multi-paned iron frame set in a timber surround. To the left, there is a recessed modern door accessed by steps, and to the lower right, a boarded basement door. At the apex, there is a plaque displaying the sign of the Lodge, which features a heart within a hand.
