Description
2 Short Bridge Street was originally built as stables with a function room above. It was raised by one storey around 1900, prior to 1904. The building is three storeys high and features a three-window facade made of colourwashed brick, topped with a slate roof that has slightly swept eaves and a modern red brick chimney stack on the right.
The windows are recessed sash types, with cills; the second floor has horned six-pane windows, while the first floor has twelve-pane windows with voussoirs above. On the ground floor, there is a central shop front, likely from around 1900, which includes a cornice and panelled pilasters, along with a recessed entrance to the left that has half-glazed doors and a boarded stallriser. To the left, there is a cambered carriage entry featuring voussoirs and boarded doors. To the right of the carriage entry, there is a horned twelve-pane sash window, and at the far right end, there is a doorcase with panelled reveals, a bracketed cornice, and small-pane glazed doors.
The right gable end is slate hung, while the rear of the building is constructed of dark brick and has small casement windows. Additionally, there is a rubble boundary wall enclosing the yard at the rear.
