Description
Bryn-Coch Uchaf is a timber-framed building constructed with three panels high. It features one stone gable that includes a fireplace and stack, and it has an old slate roof. The square panels are supported by tension braces at the central truss and on the gable end, with all panels infilled with brick that has replaced the original wattle and daub. The layout consists of a principal room with the entrance located opposite the side of the stack, and an inner unheated parlour. At a later date, a pantry was added at the rear behind the parlour, along with a general service room that includes a bakeoven behind the main room. The building has timber casement windows and a tall stone stack, which has been reduced in height. A single purlin roof is present. There were farm buildings, including a stable, pigsty, and cow-house, built against the gable, but these no longer survive. At the time of inspection, the building was not accessible and was in poor condition.
