Description
Llechwedd-llyfn is a building constructed from local stone rubble and topped with a slate roof. It has one storey and attics, featuring a lobby entry plan. The downhill parlour is located to the left of the axial stack, while the hall and inner room are to the right. A back kitchen has been added to the rear of the building. The structure includes a timber door frame and small square windows, most of which are missing. On the north wall, there is a horse gin, although only the iron capstan remains.
The building is constructed using cruck construction, consisting of two pairs of well-shaped cruck couples, with one slightly raised and the other reaching the ground, both halved at the apex. The upper truss is filled with wattle and daub, creating a partition for the inner rooms, which features a sill and a step up. There is a tenoned collar, but the former tie beam is missing. An open truss, positioned approximately 1 meter in front of the stack, has a collar and tenoned apex. The stack includes a small iron range, flanked by slate slabs, and is situated below a heavy, low-set fire lintel. The large open fireplace in the parlour is blocked off and replaced with a smaller fireplace. The ceiling features chamfered cross beams with check and scoop stops. A staircase is enclosed in timber against the rear wall. The added back kitchen contains a pump in the corner, and the roof battens are fully torched.
