Description
Rhiewport is a 19th-century house featuring lined out render and slate roofs, with brick axial and end wall stacks. The building has three storeys and five bays, with the central entrance bay being prominent, accentuated by giant pilasters and a high blocking course. A slate lean-to verandah with lattice-work timber supports extends along the front of the house and around the right-hand side. The central entrance consists of paired panelled doors beneath a moulded entablature. The flanking ground floor windows are wide bows with tripartite sashes, while the upper windows are all 2-pane sashes.
To the left, there is a lower hipped roof block that may be a slightly later addition. At the rear, a central gabled wing housing the stairs features a round-arched window, and to its left is a hipped roof wing with curved moulded copings on the gable-end wall, which includes a tripartite sash window on the ground floor and paired 2-pane sash windows above. A long lower wing to the rear left, likely contemporary with the main house, houses kitchens and has been extended and altered in the late 19th century.
The interior has a simple plan, with principal rooms flanking the entrance hall, a staircase at the centre rear, and an additional room to the right. The service wing is located to the rear left. All principal rooms feature moulded plaster cornices and marble fireplaces, while the dog-leg stair has plain spindles and a swept rail.
