Description
The Stable Block at Vaynor Park is a Grade II* listed building made of brick with stone dressings and a slate roof topped by a timber and lead cupola. It has two storeys and seven bays, featuring an advanced shaped central gable above the entrance arch, with similar gables on each side elevation. The entrance arch has an architrave with a Gibbs surround and a shallow voussoir arch. An entablature extends over the piers, which support draped urns. Above the arch, there is a tripartite window with a stone pedimented architrave that projects from the wall. The outer bays contain two-light stone mullioned windows set in splayed architraves. The building has steep dormer gables above the central first-floor windows, with gable copings topped by ball finials. A plain brick string course runs between the two storeys.
On the left side elevation, there are three segmental carriage arches on the ground floor, along with a three-light mullioned window in a stone pedimented architrave, flanked by oculi above. Inside, paired stable doors lead off the central passageway, and the stables largely retain their 19th-century fittings. The stable block is connected to the house on the northwest side by a high brick wall with raking copings.
