Description

This is a terrace of four cottages, built in 1834 as two symmetrical pairs, facing south onto Park Street. The site slopes to the left. Despite the slope, the entire terrace is under a single roof, with approximately one meter of blank stonework above the upper windows on the left-hand side. The cottages are built of uncoursed grey shaley stone, with a roof largely of restored small random slates and a tile ridge. Each pair of cottages has a central stone chimney. A date stone reads “Wm Evans Proprietor / Ed Roberts On Davies / Masons / Rt Roberts Carpenter / 1834."

The window openings are approximately square, with segmental stone heads and slate sills. Three windows retain their original 12-pane two-light casements. The door to number 7 has a timber lintel, while the others have stone lintels. Two doors have been restored as boarded heck doors.

The terrace is complemented by a uniform set of front iron railings and gates, a low stone wall, and stone gate piers. The railings contribute to the group value of the terrace.
