Description

A terrace of ten cottages, built in the late 18th century, located on Plodder Lane in Bolton. The cottages are constructed of brick, largely rendered over, and have slate roofs. The terrace is eleven windows wide, with each of the ten dwellings having a single-unit plan, although number 31 has been extended by a single window. The doorways have simple architraves, some now within added porches, while the lower windows are 3-light casements with segmentally arched heads. The upper windows are casements of 2 and 3 lights, positioned below the eaves. The ends of the terrace have rendered stacks. The interiors of the cottages were not inspected during the listing process. A front garden wall adjoins numbers 31 to 38, and incorporates upright stone slabs fixed with iron bolts. This demonstrates group value as a cohesive terrace.
