Description
These are a pair of Arts and Crafts style cottages, likely dating to the early 20th century. They are built of rock-faced grey rubble stone with a renewed slate roof. A prominent, diagonally-set chimney sits centrally, featuring a string course and a tapering top. Smaller external chimneybreasts are situated just behind the gables, mirroring the string course and tapered capping detail.
The cottages are one and a half storeys high, with the roof sloping down over the porches. Each porch has a small leaded window facing forward and a boarded door to the side. The side return wall terminates in a buttress with a sloping top. Stone voussoirs frame the doorways.
A broad, two-storey flat-roofed projection sits at the centre, finished with moulded coping. Short, canted sides extend from this projection, each featuring a small window just above the roof eaves. The front of the projection features two sets of three mullioned windows on each floor. The end walls incorporate a small two-light window within the porch gable, with a single light towards the front and two-lights towards the rear. A further two-light window is found on the first floor of the centre projection.
The windows have flush, unmoulded grey stone surrounds, and originally had leaded lights. These have now been replaced with 20th-century metal windows, though some original leaded windows remain in the porches.
