Description

67 Acton Gate is a neo-vernacular style building dating from the 18th century. It is symmetrically planned with a four-window range, and features advanced outer gables. The exterior is roughcast render over brick, with grey slate roofs and brick axial and end wall stacks. Entrances are set back within short, hipped-roofed wings, each with a recessed doorway within a round-arched porch, the roof above the porch being swept down from the hipped gable. The gabled ranges have canted bay windows with slate roofs to the lower storey, and renewed three-light casement windows above. The central range between the gables has a roof which is swept down and supported by chamfered and braced timber posts over a verandah. French doors are set into the return of the gabled cross wing, and there are casement windows in the main range. Long, four-light dormer windows are visible in the roof above. Garage extensions with hipped roofs are linked to the entrance blocks; these are likely adapted from original outbuildings and match the detail of the main building.
