Description
The Cottage is a Grade II listed building in a vernacular revival style, featuring roughcast render over brick and a red plain tiled roof. It is one and a half storeys high and has an L-shaped plan. The original entrance, located in a flat-roofed porch on the rear elevation, is now disused. The front elevation showcases a central gable above a loggia on the ground floor, which is supported by timber posts. There is a four-light casement window in the gable, along with a wood mullioned casement and French windows below. A glazed porch is situated in the left-hand angle, and there is another four-light casement window to the right. A stack is positioned against the rear wall and connects to the main roofline via a gablet. The right return elevation features two gables, with a single upper window in the left-hand gable, a stair window, and two three-light casement windows in the right gable. A former range of outbuildings, which ran parallel to the main range, has been rebuilt and incorporated into the house. While there have been some alterations to the internal layout, the original arrangement of rooms largely remains intact. The original plan included a central hall with a dining room and sitting room on either side, a ground floor bathroom, and a kitchen and scullery in the wing beyond the stairs.
