Description
69 Acton Gate is a two-storey building designed in a neo-vernacular style, featuring roughcast render over brick and grey slate roofs, with brick axial and end wall stacks. The building has a symmetrical layout with a four-window range and advanced outer gables. Entrances are located in short hipped roofed wings set back on either side, with doorways recessed in porches that have round-arched entrances, and roofs that sweep down from the hipped gables.
The gabled ranges include canted bay windows with slate roofs on the lower storey, and above are three-light casement windows that have been renewed in their original openings. The central range between the gables features a roof that sweeps down and is supported by chamfered and braced timber posts over a verandah, which includes French doors in the return of the gabled cross wing and casement windows in the main range. Long dormer windows with four lights are present in the roof above. On either side of the entrance blocks are hipped roofed garage extensions, which may have been adapted from original outbuildings and share similar detailing with the main building.
