Description
The entrance screen to the former drive of Acton Drive is a Grade II listed structure, likely built during the 18th century, with its design attributed to Thomas Harrison. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features cast iron railings. The entrance is flanked by Greek Doric piers that create a colonnade with three bays on each side. The outer piers are topped with fibreglass replicas of the original rampant painted wood greyhounds, which had wrought iron tails as part of the restorations. Cast iron spearhead railings are mounted on a low plinth wall between the colonnades, extending into flanking quadrants that are divided by three circular stone piers. This arrangement culminates in a short section of panelled wall that is topped with a cornice.
