Description
4 Mill Terrace is part of a group of three cottages at 4, 5, and 6 Mill Terrace in Bersham, designed in a simplified Cottage Orne style. The cottages are constructed from random squared rubble and feature slate roofs with red tile cresting and axial stacks at both the front and rear. The symmetrical arrangement includes advanced outer gables.
Cottages 4 and 6 have entrances on the sides, while the entrance to No 5 is a plank door with strap hinges located to the right of a narrow central bay. To the left of this doorway, there is a 3-light mullioned and transomed window, with a single light transomed window in a gabled dormer above it. The outer gables, which are roofed separately from the main ridge line, each contain a 2-light mullioned and transomed window on the ground floor and a single light transomed window above. All windows feature latticed glazing.
The gable returns have doorways framed by heavy stone architraves and lean-to canopy porches, with similar windows alongside. The gables are adorned with scalloped barge boards.
