Description
The White House is a Grade II listed building featuring roughcast render over brick and a slate roof with ridge tile cresting and gable end stacks. The moulded cast-iron guttering forms an eaves cornice in the main range, and there are overhanging eaves on the south rear wing. The building is two storeys high with a three-window main range and parallel rear wings. The original doorway has been replaced with French windows in the centre of the main range, which are flanked by 3-light casement windows on each floor; the lower windows are transomed and have small upper panes. There are similarly detailed French doors in the right-hand gable return.
The rear wing to the north was built in two phases, possibly extending part of the original construction in the later 19th century. The south wing is likely an addition from around 1890 and contains the main entrance, which features a four-panelled door under a lean-to red-tiled canopy porch supported on brackets. This entrance is flanked by a small-paned window with some decorative leading. To the left, there is a full-height canted bay window with mullioned and transomed windows on the ground floor, and small-paned casements above. A small casement window is located over the entrance.
