Description
Rhyd-y-cyffin Farm features an L-shaped multi-purpose farm building constructed of brick with a slate roof and dentil eaves. This structure includes a lofted stable, cart house, and granary, with pigsties attached to the right gable end and a lower shippon at right angles to the left end. The cart shed has two basket arches; to the left, there is a steel-framed hopper window and a stable doorway, although the door and part of the jamb are missing. The three lean-to pigsties have round-headed openings leading to walled pens, but they do not have gates. Above the pigsties, the gable end of the main range features a segmental-headed small-pane iron-frame window for the granary, with a diamond-pattern breather beneath the apex. The shippon retains original doors with depressed heads, but it has later inserted steel-framed windows set under concrete lintels. These include a window at the right end, followed by a split door, another window, a window in a former doorway, another split door, and a window at the end. The rear of the building, which is obscured by a hay store, has segmental-headed boarded openings, wood vents, and a central door leading to the byng.
