Description
The garden walls on the north side of the formal garden include gatepiers, gates, and an alcove. The walls are constructed from a mixture of brick bonds, featuring sections in English Garden Wall bond and Flemish bond. The bricks are generally red or reddish brown, with various sizes indicating different areas of rebuilding and repair. Most of the wall has a flat stone parapet. Approximately halfway along, there are square-section brick gatepiers topped with flat brick caps, supporting iron gates that date from the later 19th century. At the end of the garden, there is a seating alcove formed by a gabled opening leading to a curved recess, which is flanked by square-section brick piers with flat stone caps. The wall continues to curve around, ending at an iron screen.
