Description
The Horse and Jockey Public House is a largely brick building with roughcast render, featuring some surviving elements of timber-framing that are not visible from the outside. These include timber studs in the rear wall and a timber-framed wall plate in part of the southeast wall. The building has a thatched roof, with the gable facing Hope Street and a doorway located at the angle with Priory Street. Each floor in the gable has renewed 3-light casement windows. The long range facing Priory Street includes a high gabled dormer window towards the center, with a massive stack breaking the roofline immediately to its left. There are 3-light casement windows on each floor in this gable, along with a smaller casement window to the left of the stack. To the right of the dormer gable, there are two doorways, one accompanied by a small window, and two gabled dormers in the roof above. A stack is present on the south gable wall.
