Description
The Old Swan Public House is a building featuring a frontage range with rusticated render over brick and possibly a timber frame, while the rear range is constructed of brick. It has slate roofs throughout. The front range includes a narrow cross wing and a main range, with a gabled wing on the left side. There is a passage through to the rear that cuts away at the angle of the wing, displaying raised lettering that reads 'Old Swan Brewery' in render above the passageway. The current entrance is located off this passage. The lower windows in both the gable and main range are sash windows with margin lights and have fielded panelled external shutters. Above, there are casement windows with 2 and 3 lights. The rear wall features a stack, and the rear wing is a three-storey structure with a three-window range and a doorway to the right of centre. It has 12-pane sash windows with flat arched brick heads and stone sills, along with end wall stacks. A single-storey extension with a basement below was added to the left around 1900. During the demolition of the adjoining building at No 7 Abbot Street, a cruck truss was revealed in the party wall, although it has since been removed.
