Description
Deeside Farmhouse is a two-storey building with attics, constructed of red brick and featuring a renewed slate roof. It has gable end stacks on projecting stepped chimney-breasts. The garden elevation, which is symmetrical and reflects late-Georgian style, was refronted in the mid to late 18th century using larger red bricks. A later wooden and glazed porch has been added. The windows are small-paned sash types, with voussoirs and camber heads; the ground floor includes 16-pane windows, some of which are painted 'dummy' windows. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows and two painted 'dummy' windows, arranged alternately. The left-hand return gable elevation features two blocked windows with timber surrounds and an 8-pane casement window in the attic. Red sandstone quoins are present on the left side of this elevation, along with a stepped two-course sandstone plinth that marks the line of the original timber-framed building. The rear elevation includes an 18th-century extension, likely serving as a kitchen, along with various later 19th-century additions for domestic use, a former dairy, and office space.
Inside, the original farmhouse retains at least one timber-framed wall with a visible sandstone plinth. The sitting room features a large original fireplace opening and an exposed stopped and chamfered beam, while the kitchen has an exposed chamfered beam.
