Description
17 Park Street is a two-storey building with a symmetrical elevation featuring four windows. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared sandstone rubble, with dressed stone quoins and a hipped slate roof that has two octagonal stone chimneys. The central entrances are paired and have 19th-century doors, sharing a stone canopy above. The windows are topped with hoodmoulds; those on the ground floor are badly eroded, while those on the upper level have been restored. The left side has a later porch, and the right side features paired entrances under a shared stone canopy, with the right entrance now converted into a window.
Some two-unit cottages maintain their basic plan form, and several still have original staircases and blocked corner fireplaces. Number 15 retains its original plan and many contemporary features, including plank doors with strap hinges in most rooms and similar doors leading to the staircase. The front room has a corner fireplace with a simple surround, and the attic includes an original cast-iron skylight.
