Description

The Upper Terrace Wall at Whitehurst Gardens is one of three intermediate terrace walls within the gardens, where fruit was grown. The walls are sinuous in shape, differing from the concentric design shown in the Badeslade/Toms print. The upper wall is partly constructed of stone and features a later underground heating system. There is a door from a well in the upper terrace, which has a reset keystone above it inscribed with "TM 1651."
