Description
E C Snaith and Sons is a two-and-a-half storey gabled shop dating from the 19th century. It features a symmetrical facade with two bays and rendered elevations that include raised decorative stucco work around the window surrounds and quoins. The slate roof has deep verges and decorative wavy bargeboards at the front, along with a plain rendered chimney on the left pitch and a modern skylight on the right.
The ground floor showcases a full-length shop front beneath a projecting hipped tiled roof, which is supported by cusped brackets at either end. The central section is a projecting canted bay with flanking entrances on the right and left. This bay includes an 18-pane fixed front window with 6-pane side sections, and above it is a simple fascia that returns onto the canted sides. The entrances feature eight-pane glazed doors with plain rectangular overlights.
On the first floor, there are twelve-pane sash windows, with an additional similar window located in the attic within the gable. All windows have moulded stucco surrounds with projecting keys that display the Prince of Wales' feathers as a raised and polychromed motif. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
