Description

24 Vale Street is a substantial three-storey house featuring a triple-gabled design and a large central chimney. It is constructed of limestone with roughcast elevations, and it has early 20th-century stucco quoins and dressings. The roof is covered with slate and has tiled ridges, and there is a projecting lateral chimney on the right side.

The facade is symmetrical with three bays, featuring a central entrance that has a wooden doorcase topped by a moulded pediment. The entrance includes a recessed, panelled door with glazed upper panels. Each outer bay on all floors has large tripartite windows, which are slightly shorter on the second floor. These windows have plain sashes with narrow flanking sections and overall segmental openings, all adorned with lugged stucco surrounds and sill courses. The central gabled bay is blind on the upper floors.

On the southwest side, there are modern windows on each floor, along with a central cross-gable. The rear elevation also features a triple-gabled design but includes unsympathetic modern windows. There is a lower gabled extension on the left side, with a low storeyed extrusion at the angle to the main block, supported by a modern pillar. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
