Description
22 Castle Street is a house that leans against No 21 Castle Street. It features a narrow, gabled two-storey range facing south, with irregular lean-tos on either side. The exterior is rendered and lined, topped with slate roofs. The doors and windows are mainly late 20th century wooden designs, often in weather-boarded panels.
The entrance is located on the gable end and includes a glazed door with a sidelight to the right, set within a full-height weather-boarded panel, along with a top-hung window on the upper storey. To the left, there is a large lean-to that adjoins the cross-wing of No 20-21, projecting in front of the gabled range and featuring a triangular plan to fit within the boundary walls; it has a wide top-hung window on the east side. On the right side of the gabled range, there is another lean-to with a two-light small-pane casement, in front of which is a smaller lean-to shed that has a boarded door on the east end.
Access to the property is through a stone boundary wall, which steps down at right angles from the gateway to the Ruthin Castle Hotel. There is a late 20th century boarded door to the far right, next to the corner of No 21, and a pointed-arched entrance to the garden on the left, which also has a similar door.
The interior has not been seen.
