Description
Colomendy is a double-depth, two-storey house with four windows, built in red brick and dating from the 18th century. The fourth bay on the left is slightly set back. It features a hipped slate roof with a moulded wooden eaves cornice and has four large brick stacks that are irregularly placed, adorned with saw-tooth brick bands. The windows are 16-pane hornless sashes set beneath tall cambered brick heads. The main three-window front is symmetrical, with a central entrance that has a moulded wooden doorcase supported by four reeded pilasters and topped with an open triangular pediment. The entrance contains double doors with three panels, a four-pane overlight, and four-pane sidelights. Flanking the entrance are tripartite sashes on the ground floor. The left bay set back has a 16-pane sash window on each storey. The west end, facing Castle Street, has two window openings on each storey, which are blind and infilled with brick. The east end features a panelled door offset to the right, a sash window to the left on each storey, and a shallow window far left. The rear has four 16-pane sashes on the upper storey, while the ground floor is not visible. The interior has not been seen.
