Description
Colomendy Hall is a two-storey building designed in the Neo-classical style, featuring stucco walls, a hipped slate roof, and brick chimneys. It has a painted stone cill band and a five-bay principal elevation, which includes a central recessed bay with three windows and an entrance to the right. The end bays are highlighted by tripartite windows set in a segmental arch, flanked by niches, with an upper floor window accompanied by large roundels. Most of the windows date from the late 19th century and 20th century.
The right-hand return elevation features two narrow projecting bays with hipped roofs and ground floor windows set in segmental arches. To the left and rear, there is service accommodation that generally retains multipaned sash windows.
Despite some 20th-century partitions and alterations, the house maintains the character it acquired by the late 19th century. The entrance hall showcases reeded doorcases and six-panel doors, a bracketed plaster cornice, and a shallow arched opening (now with 20th-century infill) leading to a staircase hall with a Ruabon tile floor. The staircase has an open string and turned handrail. The principal rooms are adorned with ornate plaster friezes and ceiling details, as well as early and late 19th-century fireplaces and six-panel doors. Additionally, there is extensive service accommodation and vaulted cellars.
