Description
This is a K6 type telephone call box, designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, following the standard design introduced by the General Post Office in 1936. This particular box dates from the reign of George VI and was manufactured by the Carron Company. It features a domical roof with lunettes that enclose embossed Imperial Crowns above red-lettered opals and ventilation slits. The sides and door have raised surrounds with marginal bars on the horizontal glazing, and it has a moulded plinth.
