Description

Plas Penyddeuglawdd is a building of random rubble construction with slate roofs, dating from the original building (identified as No 37) to the rear. The original section is a two-storey, two-unit plan dwelling. It features brick end and side wall stacks. The garden front was largely remodelled in the mid-19th century. A doorway and blocked French doors open onto the remains of a cast iron and glass verandah that originally ran along the front, with ornate cast-iron posts and brackets still visible. An oriel window is located to the left above, and a renewed two-light casement window is to the right. The street-facing elevation has a single window on each floor. A lower window is blocked, with traces of an earlier, smaller stone mullioned window – potentially originally a fire-window – towards the right-hand gable. A two-light casement window sits above it. An early-19th century addition faces the street; this is a two-storey, two-unit planned dwelling linked to the original building by a short rear wing, and is internally subdivided. The entrance to No 39 is centrally located, while 12-pane sash windows are present on each floor to the left, featuring flat arched stone heads. Similar windows on the right-hand side are currently boarded over. The entrance to No 37 is through a timber gabled porch in the right-hand gable return, also with brick end wall stacks.
