Description

Plas Coch Rest Home is a historic building with its main block dating back to 1667, featuring mid-19th century alterations and an increase in height. There is also a later Georgian range that runs parallel to the rear. The building is two stories tall and has a three-window front made of English garden wall bond brick. The central entrance bay is prominent, gabled, and includes high brick kneelers, a stone gable parapet, and a pineapple finial. To the left, there is a plinth and stone quoins that rise to the original eaves level. The roof is slate with a dentil cornice and a large chimney breast on the right end, which has brick banding and similar gable details. A Victorian sash window has been inserted into the ground floor on the right, featuring herringbone voussoirs. The entrance is framed by a wide Doric doorcase with a tripartite half-glazed door.

To the right, there is an advanced two-window gable end range with Flemish bond brickwork, similar detailing, a flatter chimney breast, and cast iron window box holders. A modern brick range is set back to the right. On the left, various gable-ended ranges show many alterations and later additions due to the conversion into a residential home, including a broad brick chimney stack with a stepped flue.

The property has a large walled garden that retains some of its original brick walls. Inside, the building features the date 1667 in the inner porch, while the rest of the interior mainly showcases late Georgian and early Victorian details. The Dining Room has an acanthus and palmette cornice, and the first floor features an Arabesque cornice. There is also an altered brick cellar.
