Description

The Preaching Cross in the churchyard of the Church of St Cynfarch and St Mary dates from 1800. Only the calvary and the lower half metre of the shaft remain. The shaft is set into a base block that stands on two stone steps. A bronze sundial has been attached to the reduced shaft, marked "E[dward] Tavo, fecit, Chester," indicating that Tavo was an instrument maker located on Eastgate Street. The date 1800 is carved into the stone on one side.
