Description
Ceffyl Gwyn Public House is a two-storey building that features a main section facing south, along with two rear wings. The front is constructed from sneck-coursed ashlar masonry made of local limestone, with freestone quoins and decorative elements around the door and windows. The west rear wing, which is next to the road, and the back of the main range are rendered, while the east rear wing is built from uncoursed limestone rubble masonry. The roofs are covered with slate and have tile ridges, with thin bargeboards that do not hide the ends of the purlins. The main range has prominent red brick chimneys at both ends, featuring dentilled corbelling at the top. The east rear wing has a plain red brick mid-chimney, while the west rear wing has a rendered end-chimney with two diagonally set red-brick flues.
The front elevation includes three windows that are evenly spaced, with the upper windows extending above the eaves line and featuring dormers with moulded bargeboards and finials. The eaves are supported by four brackets. The windows are hornless sash types with six panes each. There is a central porch that mirrors the bargeboards and finial of the dormers, along with timbering in the pediment and modern outer storm doors. Additional features include notice boards, lamps, and hanging brackets.
The west elevation, facing the road, shows the blank gable end of the main range and the three-window rear wing, which has 20-pane hornless sash windows both above and below. There are also notice boards and a hanging inn sign, along with further notice boards on the rear gable of the wing.
