Description
Branas Isaf Farmhouse is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-window house that faces east. The building is rendered over stone and topped with a slate roof, featuring stone stacks at both ends. A central gabled porch has a segmental arched opening, with a panelled door inside and a small-pane overlight above. The house has sixteen-pane hornless sash windows beneath flat heads with stone sills, with the upper storey windows positioned just below the eaves. The rear elevation also has three windows and is partially built into the bank. The upper storey features 20th-century large-pane windows, while the lower storey has a similar window to the left and a three-light window to the right.
At the south end of the house is an 18th-century wing that is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has 20th-century small-pane glazing. This wing includes a half-glazed door with sidelights to the right and a two-light casement window above. The rear of the wing has a two-light casement window to the left, set in a reduced opening beneath a long timber lintel, and a large-pane window above it. To the right, there is a catslide lean-to with a half-glazed door on the left return. The south gable end features a window on each storey, with the upper opening originally being taller, and a narrow window to its left. A small outbuilding is attached to the southwest angle of the wing.
Additionally, there is a former outbuilding attached to the left side of the front of the wing, positioned at right angles. This outbuilding includes a granary and has a first-floor doorway with a 20th-century wooden door on the east gable end, accessible by stone steps. The north and south sides of the outbuilding feature 20th-century two-light casement windows.
There was no access to the interior at the time of inspection.
