Description
14 Bull Lane is part of a terrace of three two-storey cottages built in the early 19th century. The cottages are primarily constructed of limestone rubble, with some brick, likely sourced from the nearby ruins of the castle or Leicester's Church. They feature a continuous slate roof adorned with three plain brick chimneys, although number 15 has a modern skylight on the front roof pitch.
Each cottage has an entrance that includes an open wooden pediment supported by thin engaged columns. The original doors are six-panel designs with three-pane rectangular overlights. To the left of each entrance, there is a 12-pane sash window, while above, each unit has a nine-pane sash window on the first floor, although the windows in number 14 have been replaced with modern versions. The windows in number 16 have been updated to top-hung casements, and there are also two additional nine-pane sashes on the first-floor gable end of number 16. This group of cottages is significant as a cohesive architectural ensemble.
