Description

The lychgate and steps leading to St Stephen's Church is a lightly constructed timber-framed structure dating from the 19th century. It features two bays with gables at both the front and rear. The roof is covered with slate and overhangs at the verges, with a surviving iron finial located at the rear. The timber frame is painted black, accented with Gothic inserts painted white. At the front, there are iron-spiked timber gates and side seats, with the ground paved in flagstones.

At the rear, steps lead up to the church in two flights, separated by a landing. Stone posts and rails line the sides of the steps, and there are seats on each side of the landing.
