Description
The barn at Aberwheeler House is a threshing barn constructed from handmade bricks with an unusually coarse texture. The roof is sheathed, while the gables are finished with stone copings and stone kneelers. A large door is located on the south side of the barn, accompanied by a smaller door on the north side. The brickwork on both sides and in the east gable features two tiers of ventilation slits. At the western end of the building, there are two stables with a loft above, which includes loft hatches at the front. Each gable has a high-level loft door. The window in the west stable has a semi-elliptical head, while the other lower openings are topped with segmental arches. The original roof carpentry, including rafters, is preserved in five bays, with two additional bays to the west beyond a brickwork cross wall. There is a feeding gap in the loft floor at the rear of the west stable.
