Description

Hafod-tan-yr-eglwys, formerly known as Ty-gwyn, is a three-storey house with three windows, likely built of brick and finished with stucco that is scored to resemble stone courses and painted white. It features a slight plinth and a low-pitch slate roof with overhanging verges. The house is adorned with elaborately carved sinuous openwork barge boards and has end chimneys. The windows are hornless sash types in exposed frames, with the ground and first storey windows having 12 panes each, while the second storey windows have nine panes. Above the windows are Tudor label moulds. The main entrance consists of a six-panel door with thin Gothic glazing bars in the rectangular overlight, and there is a light porch at the front that is open at the front and sides, also featuring a similar overlight.

To the left, there is a two-storey extension that has two wider 12-pane windows on the upper level and garage doors below. The west return wall has two similar windows. At the rear, the elevation is irregular and features a slated lean-to roof that starts just below the eaves of the main range, along with modern small-paned timber doors and casements.

Inside, there are four-panel doors and a staircase with square balusters, a close string, a column at the foot serving as a newel, and square newels at the landings. The rails are swept only on the lower floors.
