Description
Efail-Gwaenynog is a small one-and-a-half storey farmhouse dating from the 19th century, featuring a rear outshut and an integrated stable section on the right. It is constructed of whitened limestone rubble and has a slate roof, with brick chimneys at the center and ends; the right chimney has been reduced in height while the left one was heightened in the late 19th century.
The farmhouse section has a central boarded door flanked by 16-pane horizontal sliding sash windows, which have wooden frames and arched heads. The upper floor features later 19th-century, 12-pane horizontal sliding sash windows set within large gabled dormers that have plain bargeboards. The stable section on the right has a flush, continuously-roofed design and includes two boarded doors with cambered heads. Between these doors is an arched window, with an additional window at the far right. The upper floor has a twelve-pane sliding sash window and two loading bays.
The rear outshut is L-shaped and extends the length of the house section, featuring a modern wooden ground-floor window facing the road. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
