Description
The Brewhouse at Foxhall is a small rectangular domestic building constructed from limestone rubble, featuring a pitched 20th-century slate roof and a squat 19th-century brick chimney on the northeast side. The building has two storeys, with the entrance located on the southeast gable end, which includes a modern part-glazed door. On the garden side, there is a two-light 19th-century casement window with four-pane sections and a segmental head, along with a modern small-pane window above that has a tilting upper section. The northeast side features a three-light casement window on the first floor, similar to the one on the garden side, and a modern open carport at ground level. The southeast gable has a tall arched window with small-pane glazing and brick voussoirs. Additionally, there is a modern single-storey addition with a pitched roof attached to the ground floor.
Inside, the building has been heavily modernised but retains some original features, including stopped-chamfered beams and a window lintel on the ground floor. The roof contains two re-used early 16th-century trusses, which are arch-braced collar trusses adorned with saltire cross decoration above the collar. This construction method, along with the use of double pegs, is considered unusual.
