Description
The former brewhouse at Maes-yr-Hendre Cottage is a single-storey vernacular building, likely built in the second half of the 18th century and possibly originally used as a domestic space. It is constructed from rubble with a slate roof and a tiled ridge, featuring a reduced chimney on the right side. The entrance is off-centre to the left and has a pegged oak frame with an original boarded door, which is now fragmentary as of July 1996. On either side of the entrance are small two-light wooden windows with wooden boarded shutters. To the left, there is a small adjoining byre block from the 19th century, built in the same style.
Inside, the brewhouse has a two-bay layout with a pegged oak queen strut and tie-beam truss. There is a wide fireplace on the right side with a bread oven inserted to the left.
