Description
Plas Farmhouse, also known as Henblas Farm, is a two-storey farmhouse with an end chimney, constructed of whitewashed rendered rubble. It features a slate roof and end chimneys, with the right chimney being taller and more robust. The front of the house is almost symmetrical, displaying three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, which flank a central doorway. The windows are small pane metal casements, and the doorway is sheltered by a shallow porch made of slate slabs. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to with two modern windows facing the road to the west and a doorway to the left on the north side. At the rear, irregular stonework indicates a transition between 18th century and 19th century masonry.
In the boundary wall to the left of the house, there is an inscribed stone featuring the initials 'TB', 'BB', and the date '1626', which refer to Thomas Bulkeley and his wife Blanche. Thomas Bulkeley was made a viscount in 1643 and moved to the old Plas, which was demolished in the 19th century, in 1624.
The room to the right of the central entrance has heavy ceiling beams and a large fireplace with a picturesquely curved timber lintel. The other rooms have ceilings with 20th-century roof timbers.
