Description
Abergele and Pensarn Railway Station Booking Hall is a building constructed from Buckley brindled brick on a blue engineering brick plinth, featuring red brick dressings and a slate roof. The booking hall is a single-storey structure, but it is two storeys at the rear, where it continues east with a narrower, lower section that contains cloakrooms and consists of two bays.
The main south elevation has three window bays and is topped by a high, flat-roofed timber valenced canopy supported by cast iron brackets. It features large timber windows set in cambered-headed openings, with a cambered hood moulding that rises from a three-course outsetting springing band, which also connects the sills. A six-course dentilled terracotta cornice runs along the top. The hipped roof has apex finials and a gable stack, while the right opening includes a pair of fielded-panelled doors. The eastern continuation has three bays with a central pair of doors and flanking windows that have similar but simplified detailing, along with a gable stack.
The elevation facing the railway line has four window bays on the upper level, with three half-round keyed arches below that originally led to storerooms; two of these arches are now blocked. The western structure contained a porter's room and a coal store at the lower level. Inside, there are matchboarded partitions and a notable Pooley 100Kg weighting machine.
