Description
Abergele and Pensarn Station's 'Down' Platform Building is a single-storey structure built from Buckley brindle brick, featuring red brick dressings and a blue brick plinth, topped with a slate roof. The building has 12 closely set window bays, along with three additional bays for the cloakrooms at the eastern end. The window openings are segmental headed, adorned with a three-course brick keystone, and the edges have sunk ovolo mouldings. A terracotta hood mould connects to the dropped ends. The timber windows are complemented by door openings in bays 1, 4, 6, 9, and 14. A terracotta five-course cornice with a moulded corbel table and coved cyma adds detail to the facade. The hipped slate roof is punctuated by two brick stacks with outsetting heads. At the western end, there is an open goods handling area that is timber framed, featuring diagonal boarding and high-level glazing, supported by iron columns beneath a valenced flat roof. The three bays at the eastern end are narrower and include a saddle roof ventilator. The building was not accessible at the time of inspection.
