Description

This is a late 18th century or early 19th century terrace of cottages, likely built for quarrymen, situated in the center of Llansannan village. The houses in the terrace feature various masonry constructions and many still have their original windows at the front and back. All the houses, except for the Surgery, have front gardens enclosed by low rubble walls with beveled capping, topped with railings that alternate between paired and joined rounded heads and vertical rails with fleur de lys finials. The gates have a mix of tall and short vertical rails with fleur de lys finials, plain foot and lock stiles, and shaped wrought iron swirls above the top rail. The gateposts are square rubble piers with pyramidal caps. In front of the Surgery, there is a paved area with a railed enclosure for a First World War memorial. The rear of the terrace features several modern lean-to and flat-roofed additions that are not particularly noteworthy.

The Surgery itself is a mid-terraced house constructed from local rubble masonry laid roughly to courses. It has three windows with a central entrance accessed through a lean-to porch. The windows are 6-pane horned sashes, with rough stone lintels on the ground floor and positioned directly under the eaves on the first floor. The house has large stone and brick ridge chimneys at both ends, with the left (west) chimney partly rendered. The porch is an addition made from similar materials as the main house. In front of the porch, there is a First World War memorial within a small railed enclosure, and the Surgery does not have the small wall and railed gardens that the other houses in the terrace possess.
