Description
The Wavecrest Hotel is a three-storey building with a basement and attic, constructed in stucco with a rusticated ground floor and a slate roof. The front elevation features eleven bays divided into two sections. The left section resembles other buildings in the Crescent and includes five windows. The modern attic storey has five casement windows, and there is a modillion cornice above. A moulded band course runs between the cornice and the second-floor windows, which are all sashes set in lugged architraves. On the first floor, the sashes are in moulded architraves, with the central window featuring a segmental pediment. Steps lead up to the central doorway, flanked by two sash windows without glazing bars, and there is a modern glazed door. An iron balustrade encloses the basement area.
The right section of the building is slightly advanced and has six windows. It features three Free Renaissance style dormers, with the center dormer being taller and containing two lights, dated 1892. The second floor has six segmental-headed sashes with shoulders and keystones, while the first floor has paired sash windows in each outer bay, all topped with cornices on consoles. The ground floor includes a columned porch with an entablature and a balustraded parapet in front of the first-floor window, along with modern doors. There is also a balustrade to the basement area.
