Description
The White House Hotel features a front elevation with 15 bays, arranged in three sections of five windows each. The building is finished in stucco with a rusticated ground floor and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high, with a basement and attics. The left section has two attic levels, one of which is modern, and includes three dormers with triangular pediments, all fitted with modern glazing. A cornice runs along the top, and there is a moulded band course between the cornice and the second-floor windows. The second-floor windows are all sashes set in lugged architraves. On the first floor, the windows have moulded architraves, while the ground floor features a central doorway flanked by two sash windows on each side. An elaborate two-storey iron verandah has a balcony rail with art-nouveau detailing, and the central section rises to cover the central first-floor window. This verandah is supported by iron columns and features a steep roof with cresting, trellis, and fretwork in iron.
The central and right sections are nearly identical, each with five-window fronts. At the attic level, both have modern strip dormers. The cornice is simplified in the central section. The second-floor windows are again sashes in lugged architraves. On the first floor, the sashes lack glazing bars and are set in moulded architraves, with the central window of the right section topped by a segmental pediment. The central doorway is also pedimented, with two sash windows on either side.
Iron railings with fleur-de-lys finials surround the area and the steps leading to the central building's doorway, while the right building has modern railings.
