Description
Capel Soar is a simple rectangular chapel built in 1863, constructed from snecked, rough-dressed rubble and topped with a medium-pitched slate roof. The front is symmetrical, featuring a plain gable and bargeboards. There are arched outer entrances with panelled double doors and segmental fanlights with marginal glazing. The central section has twin tall windows with multi-pane sashes, also including marginal glazing. Above these windows is a stone dedication plaque inscribed with 'Soar Addoldy Y Bedyddwyr 1863'. The sides of the chapel have three bays, each with tall, recessed 18-pane sash windows that have projecting slate cills; the south side is scribed and rendered, while the north side remains in rubble. The southwest gable is plain and finished with pebbledash.
Inside, the chapel features a plain interior with pine box pews that are raked towards the rear. The pulpit is located at the entrance end, and there are internal boarded porches. The ceiling has a plain plaster cornice with a central ceiling rose.
