Description
The Barn Range at Plas Uchaf is a three-bay rubble barn dating from the 19th century, topped with a corrugated iron roof. It features an entrance with a boarded door on the left and a plain window opening on the right. To the far right, there is a wide 19th-century opening that extends to the eaves, and to the left of this opening, there is a masonry break suggesting previous alterations. Both gable ends of the barn have bricked-up loading bays, and the eastern gable has a rough battered plinth.
Attached to the north of the primary barn and forming an L-plan with it is a two-bay addition from around 1800. This addition has an entrance on the eastern side with a cambered head and dressed limestone voussoirs. Above the entrance, there is a plain open window located under the eaves. To the right of this addition, there is a slated rubble lean-to that projects forward, featuring a modern boarded door on the southern return and a modern window opening to the left, along with another window opening on the front.
Both the original barn and the addition retain their original pegged collar trusses with angled struts.
