Description
The garden fountain in the grounds of Bryn-y-Neuadd Hospital is a cast-iron structure designed in the Italian Renaissance style. It is set on a pale limestone base within a circular basin that has a diameter of approximately 13 metres, surrounded by a wall made of grey limestone. The fountain features a polygonal stepped lower plinth adorned with 15th-century style decorations in panels, which is encircled by four cherubs riding dolphins and blowing horns. Above this, the polygonal lower bowl is decorated with floral patterns along the rim and pendant bosses. At the center, a plinth with lion-head decorations supports a smaller circular bowl, which is topped by a cherub-like figure holding a garland, from which water flows.
